Interior design exam in VR
In 2018, we came into contact with Jessica, a student at the Jan des Bouvrie Academy. She is enrolled in the interior design & styling program, a higher professional education course in Deventer. We connected and discussed the possibilities of presenting her final exam in VR.
Jessica’s project focused heavily on the human experience. She wanted the examiners to be able to experience her design in Virtual Reality. To achieve this, she visited our office several times during her exam period. She was able to prepare the entire virtual presentation in SketchUp. We provided a few additional applications, such as realistic sunlight. These were added to the drawing, and we provided technical support during the presentation.
In February, her final presentation took place before all the examiners, and she passed with a ‘Good’ grade, partly due to the originality of her presentation. The examiners were able to wear the headset both during and after the presentation to view the entire plan.
