The story
Easysee began with a fascination for virtual reality. During a period when VR was still in full development, it quickly became clear that this technology could become much greater than what was possible at the time. From a background in architecture, the idea arose that people only truly understand a space when they can walk through it themselves. Not as a separate visualization on a screen, but as an environment in which you are actually present.
Yet VR still felt unnatural at that time. You clicked from point to point or moved with a mouse while your body remained still. This caused confusion instead of understanding. So, a long period of experimenting, building, and testing began. For a year and a half to two years, we searched for one thing: a way to let people move through a virtual world using their own bodies.
When that finally worked, everything changed. You took a step and actually moved forward in the digital environment. You turned around, and the world turned with you. For the first time, moving through a virtual world felt logical and intuitive. What started as a technical challenge began to feel like a real experience.
That breakthrough did not go unnoticed. In 2017, Easysee received the Silver Innovation Prize at the Dutch VR Awards for the development of fully wireless VR, allowing users to move freely through a virtual world, even with multiple people at once. What was pioneering then forms the basis of how Easysee views interactive software today.
Why Easysee works differently
Many companies in the market specialized in one specific direction. Easysee consciously chose a broader approach. The focus is not on the technology, but on what an organization ultimately needs.
Based on that need, we determine which techniques are the best fit. Sometimes that is virtual reality, sometimes augmented reality, and sometimes a combination of multiple techniques within a single environment. Precisely because Easysee has developed broadly, we can provide a more honest assessment of which solution actually fits the situation best.
