In a collaborative effort with Emagine, Easysee has developed a highly specialized Virtual Reality (VR) wheelchair simulation. This application is designed as a powerful empathy-building tool, allowing students and healthcare professionals to step into the role of someone who is permanently wheelchair-bound. By navigating a virtual home environment, users gain a profound, firsthand understanding of the physical obstacles and daily challenges encountered by individuals with limited mobility.
The simulation utilizes advanced hardware—the Valve Index headset and Leap Motion hand-tracking technology—to create a fully immersive and intuitive experience. Beyond simply maneuvering the wheelchair, users can interact with doors, explore complex home layouts, and experience the environment from a seated perspective. Furthermore, the simulation supports multiplayer functionality, allowing for collaborative training sessions or shared learning experiences.
